FoCJC wins 'Most Remarkable Growth' award- March

Friends of Cabin John Creek will celebrate Earth Week with the Annual Cabin John Creek Clean-Up Campaign. Volunteers have multiple cleanup locations to choose from, allowing us to spruce up the creek all the way from its headwaters in Rockville to its junction with the Potomac River – about 10 miles downstream. You are invited to join any or all of them! A Creek Clean-Up is a wonderful way to explore new segments of the creek, or give a boost to old favorites.
Do the Cabin John Creek Challenge Hike, May 10

The fifth annual Cabin John Creek Challenge will occur on the morning and afternoon of
Saturday, May 23. The Challenge is an end-to-end hike of the Cabin John Creek Trail
from Potomac to the Potomac River that can be completed either in its entirety during
the hike on May 23 or in segments any time during the year. The goal is to involve
residents of the Cabin John Creek Watershed in a safe outdoor shared experience that
will be meaningful and educational.

Ducky Race. FoCJC Board member Scott Hoffman and his wife Kathy grilled up hot
dogs and hamburgers, and organized the food and drinks

Join us on January 18, 9 - 11 am, at the Locust Grove Nature Center, where we will be cleaning up the area around the creek, pulling invasive plants, and helping to maintain and stabilize the walking trails.

Even a creek can do with a little spring cleaning! Spring rains and melting snow has swept a winter's worth of trash and debris from the surrounding area into the creek, and you can join Friends of Cabin John Creek on April 25 in picking it up and hauling it away.

Start off the new year by helping the creek on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service! Join Montgomery Parks and Friends of Cabin John Creek to work on a variety of projects around Locust Grove Nature Center, including a park and stream cleanup and trail mulching. January 19.
